NTRP Rating Written Description and Evaluators Comments
1.5 - 2.0 You could describe yourself as a beginner. You do know how to serve and hit volleys but you haven’t got any game consistency. You hopefully have figured how to keep score. You basically know the game and want to meet up with other people who have the same love.
2.5 Requires on-court tennis experience. Has tennis stroke failings but is familiar with standard positions for singles and doubles play. 2.5 Learning to judge where the ball is going although tennis court coverage is weak. Can maintain a short rally of easy pace with other tennis players of the same skill level.
3.0 Fairly consistent when making medium-paced strokes, but isn’t comfortable with all tennis strokes and misses execution when seeking for guiding control, depth or might. Most common doubles formation is one-up and one-back.
3.25 You’re in-between 3.0 and 3.5 Tennis Skill ranking.
Comments: Competitive2 Level, This level appears when the city’s league is big enough and we have enough returning players. The addition of this level allows the program to fine tune the levels and the matches tend to be closer. Playoff qualifiers play in the Competitive playoffs.
3.5 Has accomplished improved tennis stroke reliability with directional control on average shots, but still lacks depth and diversity. Starting to demonstrate more competitive net play, has improved court coverage.
Admin Comments: Competitive1 division, About 40% of the tennis players are in this division. The majority of non-trained adult players are at this level.
3.75 You’re in-between 3.5 and 4.0 Skill rating.
Admin Comments: Advanced2 division, This division appears when the program’s league is big adequate and we have enough returning tennis players. The addition of this skill level allows the program to fine tune the levels and the matches tend to be closer.

Admin Comments: Advanced1 skill level, About 20% of the players are in this division. Rusty tennis players should start off in the Competitive skill level first. Scores are closely monitored by the league for Purity of Competition Rules.
4.5 Masters the use of power and spins and beginning to handle pace, has good footwork, can control depth of tennis shots and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. Can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve. Tends to over hit on difficult strokes.
